Wacky Cake was notable during the Great Depression because of it's unique blend of fixings. It has NO eggs, milk or spread – things that were uncommon during that period. Despite not having these key fixings, it's incredibly extraordinary. It's soaked, chocolatey and easy to make! 

Wet, chocolatey and easy to make! This vintage cake was unmistakable in the Depression time frame and contains no margarine, milk or eggs.



Ingredients
3 cups flour
2 cups sugar
1/2 cup cocoa
2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
2 tsp vanilla
1/2 cup vegetable oil
2 tbsp white vinegar
2 cups cold water

Instructions
Preheat oven to 325F.
Add flour, sugar, cocoa, baking soda and salt to a large bowl. Stir to combine. Make 3 wells in mixture.
Add vanilla, oil and vinegar to each of the wells. Pour in cold water and beat until no lumps are left.
Pour into an ungreased 9×13 baking pan. Bake for 60 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Let cool before cutting.
